Weekend Writing: Popular Books I Haven't Read
I have a confession to make: I have never read Harry Potter. Whew, I admitted it. Now, please don't hate me or unsubscribe from my blog.
For years, I was afraid to admit this to my friends, especially my friends who are fellow bookworms. Many of them grew up reading the Harry Potter series, and it was a series that made them fall in love with books. How could I tell them that I haven't read that same book series and that I don't relate to their love and admiration?
I felt...embarrassed.
But here's the thing: I shouldn't have to be embarrassed. So what if I haven't read the same books as my friends? Everyone has their own interests and the books they enjoy reading. I prefer realistic fiction novels, dramas, historical fiction, space fiction, Christian fiction, and romances. These are the books and stories I love to read, but I don't expect others to enjoy the same genres.
You should read the books you enjoy, and that's all that really matters. Read for yourself. Read the books that inspire you--the ones that motivate you and make you happy.

I also haven’t read Harry Potter most of those books seem like “classics.” I love a good classic, but sometimes I need a modern day break
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't read Harry Potter! I agree with you. It's nice to read classics, but modern books are also enjoyable. Thanks for reading this post!
