Inspire Change, 2020 Style
It may be hard to believe, but we are already into our first full week of 2020. It's a new year--a clean slate for what's about to come. Every year, I write a new blog post about what to expect for the year. What will change? How will I grow, learn, and evolve? If 2020 is anything like its predecessor, it's going to be an amazing year.
For one thing, I'm going to continue to grow as an individual. Personal growth is important to me. It's just as important as professional growth. Yes, I am a working professional in my field of writing and editing, but I'm also determined to grow in my many relationships--with my family, my friends, special people in my life, and above all, my relationship with God.

I fully intend to make every day of this year count. Let each day be worth it--because I have learned that you never know what might happen tomorrow. You never know if you'll have another chance. Make today count. Life is too precious to waste standing by the sidelines.
I have a goal for this year: to be brave.
On January 1, I began reading Annie F. Downs' devotional book, 100 Days to Brave: Devotions for Unlocking Your Most Courageous Self. She tells us, "You were always meant to be brave." At one point in her life, Downs decided to stop allowing fear to hold her back. Of course, being brave wasn't easy for her, but it felt right. It was a sense of freedom.

She wants her readers to feel the same way. In this compilation of daily devotions, Downs takes us on a 100-day journey to find our own bravery. She will help us embrace the path and the plan God has for us. Whether you're making a major decision, dealing with a difficult situation or a transition, or facing a fear that feels out of your control, Downs gives you courage and confidence to keep moving forward.
That's what I need in 2020. I need to be brave. I need to discover that I am braver than I know and that I'm stronger than I ever thought possible. I'm already one week into Downs' devotions and I already sense a change. I'll keep working through the book, and I will share my final thoughts at the end of the journey. Let's hope in 100 days or so, I'll be a much braver and stronger person than I am right now, writing this post.
I encourage you to make the same goal. Dream to be brave. That's not a bad goal to have.
I hope the new year brings beautiful changes to you, my dear readers. Continue to feel inspired, influence others, strive for self-confidence, and work to grow into the person you want to become in 2020.
Inspire change...
Inspire bravery...
