Weekend Writing: Literary Holiday Greeting Cards

It is officially the holiday season. Whether you're celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa, the next few weeks are one of the busiest times of the year. We attend holiday parties, decorate our homes, participate in family traditions, and, for many of us, we send holiday greeting cards to our loved ones.

Last year, I shared a selection of greeting cards inspired by literary quotes. I enjoyed designing the cards, so I decided to create five new cards for this year's holiday season. It's special to send greeting cards to family and friends. There's nothing quite like opening your mailbox and seeing a Christmas card inside. You know that your family and friends care about you and want you to have a happy holiday season.

So, it's always nice to return the favor and send a card to them. Just in case you need some inspiration for this year's greeting cards, below are five cards featuring a new set of literary quotes. Some of the best writings are about the winter season and the holidays. Your family and friends will appreciate the card, no matter what.

"I heard the bells on Christmas Day,
their old, familiar carols play,
all wild and sweet,
the words repeat
of peace on earth, good-will to men!" - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful." - Norman Vincent Peale

"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more." - Dr. Seuss

"Christmas is like candy; it slowly melts in your mouth, sweetening every taste bud, making you wish it could last forever." - Richelle E. Goodrich

"At Christmas, every body invites their friends about them, and people think little of even the worst weather. I was snowed up at a friend's house once for a week. Nothing could be pleasanter." - Jane Austen

Hopefully, you will have fun spreading holiday cheer with these greeting cards, or whichever ones you decide to use. Remember that this holiday season is the time for families to come together, celebrate and be with each other during the most joyful time of the year. Have fun and have a blessed season.

Happy holidays!
