Inspire 'Firecracker' Freedom

Today is the 4th of July, otherwise known as Independence Day. On July 4, 1776, our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, granting our country freedom from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War. The thirteen original colonies were now united, free, and independent states.

This isn't news to you, but a lot has changed since 1776. Our country has witnessed unimaginable events, both good and bad. We have a lot to be thankful for on this day, but as we know, there is still a lot of work ahead of us to guarantee our freedom.

Freedom.

Let's focus on that word for this post. While you might be attending a celebration, fireworks show, parade, or barbecue with your friends and family--having fun while eating delicious food--I want you to remember the reason for the holiday: to celebrate freedom.

How can you inspire freedom in your life? How are you inspiring freedom today? What does freedom even mean to you? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, freedom is "the quality or state of being free." People have the freedom to express their opinions and to be honest with their peers without the fear of misjudgment.

Can you be honest with your friends if you disagree about a topic? Do you have the freedom to express your opinion without the fear of being mocked? Are you living an honest, peaceful, free life? If so, can you inspire others to follow in your footsteps?

Don't be afraid to inspire freedom in your life. Loyal men and women continuously fight for our country every day. They fight for our protection, but they also fight for our freedom. We are free because it hasn't been stolen away from us. Let's hope that we always have our freedom.

You have the freedom to express your opinion and live your life the way you want, so take it. Encourage others to live free lives, as well. We deserve to always feel free to be ourselves.

Inspire freedom.
