Inspire Remembrance
November is an important month in the calendar year. The autumn weather is finally settling in and most of us are comfortable with the changing season. It's election season. Stores are already putting up holiday decorations and offering sales. Starbucks introduces its famous holiday cup.
My birthday also happens to be in November, which is always a good thing for me.
But, it's also the time for remembrance and being thankful for your blessings. There are two important holidays in November--Thanksgiving and Veteran's Day. I'll be focusing on Thanksgiving later this month, but today's post is devoted to Veteran's Day.
Veteran's Day is this upcoming Saturday, November 11. It's a time when we remember the brave men and women who devoted years of service to protecting our country. We must thank these veterans for their commitment, courageous spirits, bravery, passion, and willingness to do whatever it took to fight for our country.
While Memorial Day in May is a time to honor those who served but are no longer here, Veteran's Day is another time to do this, as well. We must remember both the veterans who are still here, but also the ones who have passed away.
I encourage you not to simply remember these veterans, but tell them "thank you." Thank them for their years of service. Thank them for not thinking twice about defending our country. It takes a special someone--a hero--to want to leave their families and fight for our freedom.
So, thank a veteran today.
